Things We Can Learn From Animal Friends

I was planning to write something "interesting" today, but an online friend sent me something this morning that made me stop and think. She lives 45 miles from Greensburg, Kansas, — the town which is barely there any more. It was hit on May 4 with an EF 5 tornado with winds over 200 MPH. There were 12 fatalities and the town was reduced to shambles in seconds. I'm sure you probably saw the images on the news.

She sent me some different images. Here's what she emailed me this morning.

    After the tornado (Greensburg, KS)

    unknown.jpg

    The story begins with the rescuers finding this poor little guy they named Ralphie. Someone had already taken him under their wing but weren't equipped to adopt;

    unknown-1.jpg

Ralphie, scared and starved, joined his rescuers…

    unknown-2.jpg

I wouldn't think anything could live through this, but we were wrong.

    unknown-3.jpg

This little lady also survived that wreckage.

    unknown-4.jpg

Here she is just placed in the car - scared, but safe.

    unknown-5.jpg

and then…they are no longer alone!

    unknown-6.jpg

Instant friends, they comforted each other while in the car.

    unknown-7.jpg

Add two more beagles found after that. The more, the merrier!

    unknown-8.jpg

Oh boy, a new traveler to add to the mix! (Note the cat coming over the seat needing shelter.) Now just how is this going to work??? (And remember they are all strange to one another.)

    unknown-9.jpg

It's going to work just fine, thank you very much!

    unknown-10.jpg

Wow! The things we learn from our animal friends. If only all of mankind could learn such valuable lessons as this. Lessons of instant friendship. Of peace and harmony by way of respect for one another — no matter one's color or creed.

These animals tell you, "It's just good to be alive and with others."

    Thanks to Dawn in Kansas.

I posted a reference to these touching photos in our website. I also emailed this information to a friend who is a Vet in Pratt Kansas and his father is also a Vet in Greensburg Kansas. Thanks.

This is an amazing, cute story. How right you are about how much we could learn from our animal friends.

Does anyone know what happened to these animals? Did they find homes?

    4. admin Says:

Jill, I haven't heard any more since I received the pictures. I will try to find out or get a contact for the animal shelter in Greensburg, if it's still there. There must be some place where the rescued animals have been taken.

I would also be interested to know about the fate of these adorable creatures. The pictures have been widely circulated, but I can find no additional info on them…
