Mackey captures Iditarod again
Nome, AK (Sports Network) - Lance Mackey captured the Iditarod sled dog race for the second consecutive year, finishing the 1,100-mile journey from Anchorage to Nome just under four minutes shy of 9 1/2 days.
Mackey became the first back-to-back winner since Doug Swingley captured three straight from 1999-2001. The Mackey family has now won four Iditarod races, as his father, Dick, won it in 1978 and his older brother, Rick, captured the 1983 race.
