Delta hikes fares for pets onboard

I saw this news over at the Orlando Sentinel the other day.

Delta hikes fares for pets onboard

The cost of taking Fido or Fluffy onboard your Delta flight is going up. The Atlanta-based airlines says as of April 1 carrying a pet in the cabin will cost $100 instead of $75. Fees for humans were also increased - blame rising fuel prices, the airlines says.

I brought Billie home last night! Of course she wasn’t flying in the cabin. She was flying as cargo on Delta. Prices have gone up in the last few months. It was $400 to send her from northern California to Tennessee in her size 400 crate. I think it was about $50 less to send her to California a few months ago.

I’m so happy to have her home though. Everyone here is glad to see her. Pearl loves her — always has. Even Charlsie was trying to play with her and Charlsie usually prefers to lie around and sleep now. But the funniest thing to see is Blue meeting his big sister. When Billie left Blue was still a newborn with his eyes closed. He didn’t know what to think when I brought in this great “new” dog last night. But he got over his hero worship fast and started following and chasing her everywhere, trying to make her play with him. He wore her out! She was just trying to get away from him. He was such a pest. I finally put her up on my bed, where Blue couldn’t get her, and let her get some much-needed sleep after her long day traveling. Pearl cuddled up next to her and we all went to sleep.

Now I have to get Sarah, Billie and Blue’s mom, ready to go back to California where she actually lives. I think she’ll be glad to go so she can get away from her offspring! Blue, especially. He drives her nuts because he barks at her and she wants him to leave her alone.

It’s constant doggy drama here lately. I need to get the dogs all settled down.
