    Helpful Dog Training Supplies

The creativeness of dog trainers in providing additional tools for training are endless. Regardless of whether the trainer is a novice or an expert, there seem to be wide variety of dog training supplies that they are fond of. Although, a lot of these supplies and devices are really useful, they should be the alternative for hands on training experience. However, it is good to incorporate dog training supplies in whole process of training to make it more exciting and enjoyable.

Remember that before you use dog training supplies for the training, make sure that the dog is in a good condition. Even the most gentle training supplies and collars can do harm if your dog has a skin sore or a twisted claw. Check your dog first before anything else.

There are a lot of dog training supplies that are out in market and are found very useful. Clickers are ideal in drawing your dog's attention. These are metal and plastic material that hand held which produces a noisy click effect once it is squeezed and then released. It saves the trainer to constantly shouting frequently just to get the attention of the dog. This is highly audible that you can hear it even with a heavy background noise. Collars and leashes may come in certain varieties. They usually range from a 2ft control collar, commonly leather or nylon to 35ft retractable nylon. This is useful for close work such as commanding “stay” or “sit”.

The expendable leash if helpful for trainers who wants to obey their dog. The human must always be the “alpha male” of the pack, alpha being the one who is always on the lead. Dog leashes comes in several combinations such as nylon, snap, leather and buckle. It is important that the snaps and the nylon are of good quality to suit dogs with high breeds. They must be adjusted carefully to ensure that won't easily slide off. Spike collars are sometime being opposed by a lot of trainers as they are though to easily injure smaller dogs. These may also sometimes trigger fear.

Choke collars are also not encourages. Despite the fact that dos have powerful muscles in the neck, they still have the potential to damage their throat by just a simple jerk. The muzzles are best for unruly and destructive dogs. They can control heavy barking and biting. However, the only disadvantage of this is that the dog will not be able to learn by any other means how to curb barking. This material may turn to be an alternative solution to barking dog problems. There are a lot of dog training supplies that you can make use of. Some devices include electric fences, chemical sprays, no-bark collars and head collars. These devices are not advisable as it may cause damage to your dog.

Dog training supplies are very helpful in the whole process of training. But be reminded that you also need to put them aside sometimes and make use of your own self in training your dog to promote bonding and interaction with them. Make them feel that they are loved and being respected. There is nothing more effective than the power of a human touch.

Have a great "dog training" day,

    Dr. Alfonso
