Dog Training: Learn How to Make Your Dog Come to you When you Call Him, At Once

Is your dog obedient? You may think he is. However, have you noticed the number of times he comes to you whenever you call him? If not, then there is some fault in your obedience training. In order to make your dog perfectly obedient, loyal and calm, you need to train him properly. There are several commands you can learn and teach him. This way, you won’t feel stressed whenever you want to make your dog follow your instructions.

If you want your dog to come to you each time you instruct him to, you need to learn the ‘come’ command. This wonderful command will make the dog reach you as soon as you ask him to. The most significant period to teach this command is when your dog is seven weeks old. In addition, you also need to encourage your puppy via appreciating him and giving him treats each time he follows your command.

Remember that two puppies are different in behavior, characteristics and size. Hence, you require modulating your training technique according to the temperament of the puppy. You may require to provide a different treat to one puppy and a different one to the other.

Never, ever call your dog in a threatening tone. This will fear him and he might refuse to attend a training session again. Be happy and energetic when training your dog. You should be in a good mood to practice patience.

Don’t expect your dog to learn all that you have to teach him overnight. It takes time. The more time and love you give to your dog while training, the more your dog will be enthusiastic to learn.

You need to practice absolute patience and persistence while training your dog to come whenever you call. You should focus on providing good treats to your dog. Punishing your dog won’t do the trick.

If possible, do not feed your dog before training. Once the training is finished, try to give your dog, his favorite meal.

Try to analyze your dog’s behavior. Note what makes him dance with joy. You may then try to attract his attention with the help of a squeaky toy, bone, liver treats etc. The training should be conducted in a large open area.

Once you find the area, try to call his name from the place and as soon as he reaches you, give him the treat you have chosen. Practice this at least two to three times in a day. Now practice this in your room, the garden and outside a mall. This will make him reach you whenever you call, irrespective of where you are.

Don’t sound angry when you train the dog. This will upset him and make him lose his concentration. Remember that coming to you should always be a pleasant experience for your dog.

Don’t call your dog while you are taking a bath or brushing your teeth. This will make him feel negative about the command and chances are that he will not follow it to next time you instruct.

Have a great “dog training” day,

    Dr. Alfonso
