Dog Training Info and Tips You Must Know

Many dog owners worry about the possible expenses they will incur when they want to train their dogs. But then a dog can be trained even without a professional dog trainer, without people devoting a conscious effort to train him, in the same way some kids learn good manners without parents instilling them. This means the worry about money is not that realistic. But if you want to devote time to train your dog, you can do this all by yourself. It will even be worth it as the time you spend together will strengthen your bond, and you will observe the dog, or get to know him enough to know how to deal with him.

Step one is to earn your dog’s trust. To train your dog, you need to establish your hold over him. Physically hurting him or depriving him of food will only build up resentment and even hostility. You don’t earn trust that way. If your pet does not trust you, there is no incentive for him to heed much less acknowledge what you tell him to do. So before you list down what you want your dog to learn, he has to trust you; you have to win the dog over. Some simple things like eye contact and calling him over and patting him on the head gently are things that can mean a lot to the dog.

When your dog has not merely become used to you, you’ve earned his trust. He looks forward to spending time with you and to getting your approval. You can then start to line up the syllabus you want your dog to learn. This is a good lay of the land, because it outlines what you expect from your dog as well as an imaginable time line of what he should learn and scheduling your time together for training. Don’t start with complex orders; the simple ones like rolling and picking up things and bringing them back to you are important for building the dog’s confidence. You’re teaching your dog to get used to behavior useful in your life, not for a dog show. Remember that.

After trust has been earned and simple tricks are part of the normal repertoire of your pet, it’s time to go shopping for all those dog training equipment. Without these tools it may be harder for your dog to learn complex thing. Go online and search for dog accessories for your kind of dog. There’s bound to be blogs and website for the kind of equipment or tool you’re looking for. Weigh the costs well.

The most used and popular doggie training equipment is the training collar. Grabbing him by the collar is always useful when you want to restrain him. But doing so is a physical act usually accompanied by voice, and may tax you a lot physically. The dog collars available in the market right now are an upgrade to the old one. The leather and the electronic collar. The former can be adjusted to apply pressure on your dog’s neck. The latter runs a low voltage shock. Both are good for training your dog.

Have a great "dog training" day,
