The Dog’s (New Year’s Eve) Bedtime Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
The king-size bed is soft and deep.
I’ll sleep right in the center groove
So my human units can hardly move!
I’ll trap their legs, till they’re tucked in tight
And this is where I’ll spend the night.
No one disturb me nor dare intrude
Till morning comes, when I want food.
When I awake, to nibble toe and ear
Excited that it’s a brand New Year!
They’ll wake up slowly, smile and shout,
“Good morning love, -now cut that out!”
But when daylight comes it’s time to play
And I always seem to get my way.
So thank you, Lord, for giving me
These human units that I see
The ones who hug and hold me tight
and share their bed with me at night!
