    About Cool Dogs Site

mayra.jpgThe Cool Dog Hall of Fame is a project in progress. We do not only want to provide you with the most recent and fun information about dogs, but we also want you to feel part of our pet lovers family. I am very grateful and flattered at the same time of having two wonderful contributors to the dog site, Carlotta and Stormy O'shea. They really enjoy contributing to the blog and love it as much as I do. We hope you too, fall in love with our dog blog and visit often.

I would like to share a little bit about me, so we get to know each other. My name is Dr. Mayra Alfonso. I am a medical doctor. I practiced Medicine in the state of Arkansas, until recently when I relocated to South Carolina.

I am original from the island of Puerto Rico, and lived there until I finished my Doctorate education, in 1992. I then moved to continental US, where I completed my residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, in Albany, NY. That was followed by a fellowship training in Electrodiagnostic Medicine in Milwaukee, WI.

I have always loved dogs, and over the years have had many of them. My love for pets is very intense and have been very rewarding. My first love and passion was Veterinary Medicine but the lack of veterinarian schools in Puerto Rico and my modest upbringing was a limiting factor on accomplishing my dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Because of my admiration for dogs, I have always follow very closely the care of my pets and it was that way that I got involved and interested in Holistic Veterinary Medicine, and in dogs care. My five companion dogs are my pride and joy: Coco, Abbye, Benjie, Charlie and Cody. Madison who was one of my flurry sons, passed last October, 2006. He is very much missed…

    Thanks for stopping by,

    Dr. A.

P.S. Since the time I wrote this section, my dog Coco passed to a better life. Coco has joined Madi in Heaven. Coco is missed very much.
